Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 expected to use AMD Ryzen 4500U

According to a leaked 3DMark benchmark, it looks like Microsoft's fourth iteration of the Surface Laptop will come equipped with an AMD Ryzen 4500U processor.

It looks like Microsoft is willing to continue its collaboration with AMD on the laptop front. The previous iteration of the Surface Laptop came with the option to go for either an Intel or an AMD processor, and it seems like Microsoft is satisfied with what AMD delivered. Microsoft has already shown that it's willing to rely on technology from AMD in other projects, including its Xbox line of consoles.

This time around it appears that Microsoft will go for the AMD Ryzen 4500U for its upcoming Surface Laptop 4. The Ryzen 5 4500U wouldn't be a bad choice for Microsoft since the chip is a 6-core/6-thread processor with a 2.3GHz base clock and with boost speeds of up to 4GHz. Perhaps even more impressive than the number of cores and the clock speed, is that it is all accomplished with a rated TDP of just 15W.

According to reports from Windows Latest, Microsoft's Surface Laptop 4 will also come equipped with a Radeon RX 5300M mobile graphics card, which would make the slim laptop quite capable of graphics rendering considering the small format.
