Silicon Power introduces the US70 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

Silicon Power is about to launch the company's first PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Aimed at “combative gamers, competitive overclockers, professional designers/editors, and high-end business”, the new US70 offers 10x the performance of the more common SATA III SSDs, with read/write speeds of up to 5000/4400MB/s and NVMe 1.3 support.

Available with 1TB and 2TB capacities, the US70 uses the PCIe 4.0 interface, but it still is backwards-compatible with the previous generation of PCIe. The 1TB model is capable of 1800TBW and the 2TB model is capable of 3600TBW. Silicon Power says the drive's support for NVMe 1.3 brings lower latency and power consumption while offering improved performance and lifespan.

The US70 features an extensive set of technologies that allows the US70 to achieve “optimum performance”, reliability, and durability. Thanks to SLC caching and DRAM cache buffer, Silicon Power claims the US70 achieves higher read/write speeds, reaching sequential read/write speeds of up to 5000/4400MB/s. The LDPC coding and the use of an ECC algorithm ensure the “accuracy of transmission and reliability of data access”, while the E2E data protection and TRIM support should help the drive's longevity.

The US70 also supports Silicon Power's proprietary S.M.A.R.T. software to monitor the SSD status and built-in block management (BBM) to detect “bad” blocks, and avoid the storage of data in those same blocks. Additionally, this SSD includes over-provision (OP) that also reduces the SSD wear and reserves space from the SSD to “improve performance and durability”. All these technologies result in a rated MTBF of 1700000 hours.

Silicon Power hasn't shared details regarding the pricing and availability of the US70 SSD, but this SSD is backed by a 5-year warranty. You can learn more about the US70 HERE.
