Philips releases new eco-friendly 272B1G ergonomic monitor

Philips is launching a new monitor that focuses on delivering a comfortable working experience for environment-friendly users. Offering a wide range of ergonomic features and “sensible power savings”, the 272B1G is said to be an improvement over the 241B7QGJ, Philips' previous “greenest” display.

The Philips 272B1G monitor comes equipped with a 27-inch FullHD IPS panel, with 4ms G2G response time and a 75Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the IPS technology, this monitor offers wide viewing angles of 178º(H)/178º(V), offering “offering outstanding vivid and crisp images that can be enjoyed from almost any angle”. With 250nits of brightness, and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the 8-Bit panel of the 272B1G covers 98% of the sRGB colour gamut, and 76% of the NTSC colour gamut.

This monitor is equipped with multiple visual-enhancement technologies including Adaptive Sync, to deliver a smoother visual experience, and Flicker-Free technology and Low Blue mode to reduce eye strain. As an eco-friendly monitor, the 272B1G has an Energy Star 8.0 certification and an A++ energy grade for its power efficiency and is compliant with RoHS standards, meaning it's 100% recyclable and doesn't use lead, mercury, and PVC/BFR.

Some power-saving features of this monitor include the PowerSensor, that detects when the user is no longer in front of the display and reduces the screen brightness, as well as LightSensor, that automatically adjust the panel brightness according to the ambient light conditions. It also features a new LED backlight technology capable of maintaining “brightness and colour fidelity” with less energy, and a Zero Power consumption switch at the back of the monitor that cuts off all power.

The included SmartErgoBase allows the user to adjust the monitor's height by 150mm, and pivot (±90º), swivel (±180º), and tilt (-5º–35º). Users can also use the VESA mount (100×100) for a custom stand. The 272B1G comes has a pair of built-in 2W speakers, and offers 1x VGA port, 1x DVI-D port, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x HDMI 1.4, 1x audio-in jack, 1x audio-out jack, 1x USB-B upstream and a 4x USB-A 3.2 ports.

The Philips 272B1G will be available this month, priced at £199. You can learn more about the Philips 272B1G HERE.
