Just when we thought all the Intel Z490 motherboard launches were done and dusted, Gigabyte has added one more board to its Z490 line up which sees the Taiwan based company continue its partnership with G2 Esports in the form of the Aorus Z490 Ultra G2 Edition Gaming Motherboard.
Gigabyte and G2 Esports have a history of special edition motherboards and look set to continue that with the new Z490 variant of the Aorus Z490 Ultra G2. The special edition motherboard is equipped with a 12 phase digital VRM, daisy chain memory routing and an anti-interference design which Gigabyte claims to improve memory overclocking and stability.
“Continuing our previous success, GIGABYTE and G2 Esports once again launches the Z490 AORUS ULTRA G2 Motherboard. Not only does it meet the high-efficient, stable, low temperature, and high audio quality standards of a pro team but it also verifies the dedication of GIGABYTE’S roots in Esports and definition of a high-quality competitive gaming motherboard,” said Jackson Hsu, Director of the GIGABYTE Channel Solutions Product Development Division.
The Z490 Aorus Ultra G2 Edition is also outfitted with Gigabyte’s Fins-Array II VRM cooling solution with direct touch heat pipes, as well as a large PCH and M.2 heat spreader design with G2 and Aorus branding giving the motherboard a unique appearance. Additionally, the Z490 Aorus Ultra G2 Edition features 2.5GbE and Wi-Fi 6 for fast internet connectivity and PCIe 4.0 support for future upgrades.
According to Gigabyte, G2 Esports team members specifically empathised the importance of audio with the Z490 Aorus Ultra G2 Edition, in particular an improvement in the front audio panel which is the most commonly used by competitive gamers. Gigabyte responded to this request by providing a USB Type-C interface ESSential USD DAC equipped with an ESS SABRE HiFi ES9280C PRO high-end audio transfer chip to allow headset connections to the USB DAC to 3.5mm audio output.
The Z490 Aorus Ultra G2 Edition features all the hallmarks of a truly high-end Gigabyte motherboard, such as reinforced PCIe and DIMM slots, 6 layer PCB design, a built-in rear I/O shroud, an onboard Q-Flash button and debug port as well as all the usual high-end features that come with the Z490 platform.
