Phillips is about to launch a 24-inch monitor capable of preventing “visual hacking”. Using “the innovative Privacy Mode”, the Phillips 242B1V monitor can effectively hide whatever content is displayed on the screen, preventing others from seeing your screen.
The Privacy Mode is easily enabled through a button and can protect users from prying eyes. Aimed at professionals that work with confidential information, the 242B1V monitor's Privacy Mode reduces the viewing angles and the brightness of the screen, allowing only the person working in front of the monitor to see what is displayed. From the side, anyone looking at the monitor will see a much darker image, while someone looking from the front will be presented with a clear image.
The Phillips 242B1V monitor uses a 23.8-inch IPS panel with FullHD resolution, 75Hz refresh rate, 4ms G2G response time, and 178º (H)/178º (V) viewing angles. With 1000:1 of contrast ratio and 350nits of brightness in sharing mode, this 8-bit panel covers 87% of the NTSC colour gamut and 106% of the sRGB colour gamut. When privacy mode is enabled the brightness is reduced to 180nits and the viewing angles to 90º (H)/178º (V).
To prevent eye fatigue and damage, the 242B1V monitor has a LowBlue Mode and uses Flicker-Free technology. It also supports Adaptive-Sync to prevent motion tearing and multiple display modes, including SmartImage which adjusts the contrast and brightness based on what is displayed. Additionally, it includes a power sensor that reduces the monitor's brightness if no one is in front of it, saving up to 70% in energy costs and increasing the monitor's lifespan.
The SmartErgoBase of the 242B1V monitor allows for a variety of ergonomic adjustments. The stand is capable of pivoting (±90º), swivelling (±180º), tilting (-5º–35º) and is height adjustable up to 150mm. You can also replace the included stand via the VESA mount (100x100mm).
Connectivity options available on the 242B1V monitor include 1x VGA port, 1x DVI-D, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x HDMI 1.4 port, 4x USB 3.2 Type-A ports, 1x USB Type-B upstream, Audio-in 3.5mm jack, and an Audio-out 3.5mm jack. This monitor has 2x built-in 2W speakers and comes with a VGA cable, an HDMI cable, a DisplayPort cable, and an audio cable included.
This monitor will be available later this month, with an MSRP of £399. You can learn more about the Phillips 242B1V monitor HERE.
