ASUS debuts AI noise-cancelling microphone technology

ASUS has become the latest in a long line of companies to announce a form of noise-cancelling technology. The Taiwanese giant has unveiled noise-cancelling tech for its microphones and said that its “smart mic reduces distracting chatter, keyboard clatter and mouse clicks by up to 95%”.

Over the past year, more than half a dozen companies have announced some kind of noise-cancelling technology – including Apple, MSI, Nvidia, Edifier, Discord. Noise-cancellation products can come in many varieties, either in the form of software, headphones or microphones. Now ASUS has announced its latest addition to noise-cancelling microphone technology – known as AI Mic.

ASUS' microphone technology uses chipset-based machine learning hardware, that comes in a number of the company's products – including the ASUS AI Noise Canceling Mic Adapter, ROG Strix Go, ROG Strix Go 2.4, and ROG Theta 7.1.

According to Teamspeak, “the sound quality is amazing – some of the best we have ever heard!” while ASUS also claims that the technology is “perfect for use at LAN parties, in internet cafes or on trains, buses and the metro.” ASUS has posted a video highlighting the effects of the noise-cancelling AI, while the company also claims that up to 95% of all noise can be removed by the AI.
