Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 has been announced

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon started its life as a stretch goal for BloodStained: Ritual of the Night’s Kickstarter campaign. The stretch goal was hit, and the 8-bit Castlevania-inspired platformer was released in 2018 to great success. Now, it’s been announced that Curse of the Moon is getting a sequel, and it’s said to be “coming soon.”

The New Game+ Expo stream took place last night and featured a number of announcements from publishers including SEGA, SNK Corporation, and Idea Factory Int. One other publisher present was Inti Creates – the studio behind 2018’s Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.

Announced by Koji (IGA) Igarashi, the producer for both Curse of the Moon and Ritual of the Night, informed fans that they would be seeing more from the world of Bloodstained, saying “we were so happy to see how much fans enjoyed [Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon] and for that, a decision to make a sequel quickly followed suit.”

Following the introduction by IGA, was a trailer detailing what fans can expect from the sequel. Though much of what made Curse of the Moon great will be returning – including the game’s striking 8-bit art style – there will be new ways to play thanks to “three brand-new playable characters appear[ing] in Curse of the Moon 2, including the exorcist Dominique”. Each character is said to add “a variety of gameplay options, abilities, and ways to complete the game’s many stages.”

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will be “Coming Soon” to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
