Synology launch new two and four bay Plus series NAS

Data management specialist Synology has announced the launch of a new generation of two and four-bay Plus series NAS enclosures, designed for home or business deployment. New additions to the Plus series include two new four-bay and two-bay enclosures equipped with Intel quad-core and dual-core processors.

New additions to the Synology Plus series include the DS920+ four-bay NAS and DS720+ two-bay featuring an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor and dedicated SSD cache slots for 2 x M.2 NVMe 2280 drives. The DS920+ is equipped with 4 GB DDR4 memory – upgradeable to 8GB while the DS720+ has 2 GB DDR4 that can be upgraded to 6GB. Both NAS enclosures are also outfitted with 2 X Gigabit RJ-45 LAN connections, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a single eSATA port on the rear.

Launching alongside the DS920+ and DS720+ are another two NAS enclosures powered by Intel Celeron J4025 dual-core processors. The new DS420+ four-bay device and the DS220+ two-bay NAS are both equipped with 2GB DDR4 memory, upgradable to 6 GB, however, only the DS420+ features dedicated M.2 cache slots.

“Plus series is one of our most popular and versatile product lines, The series offers an ideal mix of processing power and advanced capabilities such as containers and virtualization support, in compact and quiet desktop form factors,” said Hewitt Lee, Director of Synology Product Management Group.

Synology claims that the new Plus series NAS offer up to 133% faster website responsiveness and over 15% increase in compute-intensive tasks. In multi-user environments, the addition of two M.2 NVMe slots accelerates I/O performance and allows users to complete tasks faster and more efficiently. These new Synology Plus series NAS devices are available to purchase from Synology resellers now.
