Cyberpunk 2077 ray-tracing features and DLSS 2.0 support announced

We learned a lot about Cyberpunk 2077 yesterday, as CD Projekt Red dropped a new trailer, gameplay, and press outlets got to share hands-on impressions with the game. For PC gamers and more specifically, RTX GPU owners, there is more news, as the ray-tracing features for Cyberpunk 2077 have been detailed and DLSS 2.0 support has also been announced.

We already knew that Cyberpunk 2077 would support ray-traced reflections, but CD Projekt Red has been taking things a step further by including support for ray-traced diffuse illumination, ray-traced shadows and ray-traced ambient occlusion. With all of that, this could perhaps be the best ray-tracing showcase since Remedy’s ‘Control’, which released last year with a similar list of features.

In the gallery above, you can see some screenshots with ray-tracing switched on. These effects do come at a hefty performance cost though, which is where DLSS 2.0 comes in. Nvidia revamped its DLSS technology earlier this year, making games appear sharper when upscaling lower resolutions. DLSS 2.0 also removes some of the odd artifacts and visual issues that would pop in titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Metro Exodus at launch.

All of these features will be included in the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. The game releases on the 19th of November and will also be playable via GeForce Now, so even non-RTX GPU owners can experience these features as long as their internet connection is up to the task.
