Samsung’s Odyssey G9 is officially launching this month

Samsung unveiled its Odyssey G9 monitor back in January of this year at CES 2020. Almost six months on, after much anticipation, the South Korean electronics manufacturer has finally launched the world's “first dual QHD gaming monitor with 1000R curvature”, the Odyssey G9.

Samsung's Odyssey G9 features an 49-inch screen and is, according to the company, the “world’s first Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD; 5120×1440 resolution) gaming monitor” that offers a 1000R curvature. The panel boasts a 1ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate, and comes with support for NVIDIA G-SYNC and Adaptive Sync via DP1.4. The G9 also has DisplayHDR 1000 certification and a DCI coverage of 95%.

“Following our recent announcement of the Odyssey G7 curved gaming monitor, the G9 now joins the portfolio as the first dual QHD gaming monitor with 1000R curvature. This further solidifies Samsung’s leadership in the global gaming monitor market, with innovation happening at an unprecedented rate,” said Hyesung Ha, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
