Amazon Games ‘Crucible’ is rolling back to closed beta

Amazon Game Studios' has been working on a number of projects for years now. Back in May, the company managed to release Crucible, which quickly garnered a mixed reception. Now almost two months later, the game is going back into closed beta.

A couple of weeks after release, Crucible ‘retired' two of the game modes it launched with, allowing developers to hone in on one mode to better inform the necessary gameplay changes needed. Since then, Crucible has remained live on Steam as a Free to Play game, although the option of purchasing a ‘Founder's Pack' is also there.

The availability of Crucible will change today, as Amazon plans to roll back to closed beta. That means anyone who already has access to the game will continue to be able to play. However, new players will not be able to join after today. Down the line, Amazon may expand the closed beta via sign-ups on the Crucible website.

While in closed beta, the developers will continue to follow their current roadmap, which you can see HERE. Improvements include a ‘New Player Experience', better matchmaking, combat changes, a system to punish AFK players and performance optimisations. There are other updates also listed that are a bit further off, including creature improvements, a revised respawn system, updated menus and more.
