Minisforum has announced that it is preparing to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for a mini PC powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H, called DeskMini DMAF5.
Usually, mini PCs are limited by their form factor when it comes to performance, but Minisforum's DeskMini DMAF5 is looking to change that thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor. Minisforum's own performance data suggests the AMD CPU is faster than the Intel i7-8550U, and not far away from matching the i5-8259U.
The Ryzen 5 3550H usually has a 35W TDP, with 4 cores and 8 threads that have a max turbo frequency of 3.7GHz. However, Minisforums claims that it has ‘unlocked the TDP' of the chip, enabling the CPU to run without throttling for 24 hours.

Available in different configurations, the DeskMini DMAF5 will start at $399 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. However, for those who step up to the $529 model, the mini PC will come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Minisforum also emphasises the fact that this SFF PC is able to output 4K video at 60Hz to 3 screens simultaneously.
