Fortnite has been around for several years now and while the game has consistently evolved and remained polished, Epic Games has continued using the ‘Early Access' label for the game. That changes today, with Epic Games noting this as the ‘official release' for Fortnite.
This is true for both Fortnite: Save the World, the premium PvE mode, as well as the free to play ‘Battle Royale' portion of the game. This won't mean much for Battle Royale content, which will continue to run on a seasonal basis, but there will be some interesting changes to Save the World.
“Today we’re bringing Save the World out of Early Access and have decided that it will remain a premium experience rather than going free-to-play. Development of new content will slow down after this official release, but the adventure doesn’t end here for Save the World.
The legacy Early Access label will also be removed from Battle Royale and Creative game modes, a holdover from our initial Save the World launch. Over the coming months Save the World will no longer be able to support all upcoming Fortnite Battle Royale cosmetic purchases, but your existing library of cosmetics will continue to function in both modes.”
As part of this shift, all those who paid for a Founder's Pack will get bumped up to the tier above what they initially purchased. New content for Save the World will also be shifting to an annual cycle, as Battle Royale content remains the main focus for much of the Fortnite team.

KitGuru Says: Most players have disregarded the ‘Early Access' label for Fortnite at this point, so finally removing it makes sense. It is a shame to see PvE content development slow down, but when it comes down to it, the PvP mode is just more popular and maintains a larger player count.
