Schenker has announced the VIA 15 PRO, a laptop equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H or Ryzen 5 4600H housed in a magnesium chassis. As a professional laptop, it also ships with an excellent IPS display.
Schenker's VIA 15 Pro is not be confused with the VIA 15, since the new Pro version comes with more features and better performance. The VIA 15 PRO has a magnesium chassis and weighs only 1.5 kg. The new model from Schenker also comes with an IPS display that offers 100% coverage of the sRGB colour space – making it an excellent choice for those working with video, photographs and art.
Another big difference between the VIA 15 and the VIA 15 Pro is the performance. The Schenker VIA 15 Pro can be upgraded to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, which scores more than double that of the VIA 15's AMD Ryzen 5 3550U in Cinebench R20. The performance, however, comes with a higher power consumption – the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H has a TDP of 54W, whereas the AMD Ryzen 5 3550U only has a TDP of 15 watts.
Unfortunately, there is no discrete GPU option, so keep that in mind when considering the £800 laptop. Currently, Schenker expects that the laptop will start shipping towards the end of August.
