Domino’s Pizza makes fun of Halo Infinite’s graphics

When gameplay was first shown off for Halo Infinite back during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase last week, many fans expressed disappointment at the graphical quality of the next-gen title – with particular criticism given to the game’s lighting and its “flat” appearance. It seems that Halo Infinite has disappointed more than just its fans however, as Domino’s Pizza has officially weighed in on the matter.

In a Twitter post, the official UK Domino’s Pizza account posted “Don't worry Chief, Domino's always delivers #HaloInfinite,” alongside a tongue and cheek photo of a pixelated Pepperoni Domino’s pizza with the caption “next gen?.”

Though this of course is simply a joke made to promote the Domino’s brand, it is interesting that the discussion surrounding Halo Infinite and its graphics has extended far beyond the typical audience of hardcore gaming fans.

Following the gameplay showcase, and in the wake of the criticism, Xbox Games marketing general manager Aaron Greenberg commented on the matter, saying “We're in the middle of a global pandemic. It's July, we're far from holiday. You're seeing a work in progress game. You probably watched the stream in 1080p, maybe, so we have put up a 4K60 on-demand stream. So people, I'd say, go back to look at the game in 4K60. We did that deliberately. It's very hard to show the full power and graphic fidelity of what Xbox Series X will be able to deliver for you over a stream.”

Regardless of whether the game will look better at launch (and following the announced ray-tracing update), the current optics on Halo Infinite graphically is far from positive. It’ll be interesting to see how Xbox plans to change opinions on the game between now and its release in Holiday 2020.
