OWC has announced that its new Thunderbolt 3 mini Dock for PC/MAC is available to pre-order now and is due to begin shipping from 27th July. The OWC Thunderbolt 3 mini Dock doesn’t rely on external power making it ideal for connecting to mobile devices while on the go.
The new Thunderbolt 3 mini Dock from OWC takes advantage of the full potential of a PC or MAC’s Thunderbolt 3 port to offer fast data transfer and dual 4K display support, as well as providing charging power for small mobile devices too. The device can transform notebooks into multiple display devices to increase productivity with vibrant 4k video output and high-fidelity audio.
USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports integrated into the OWC Thunderbolt 3 mini Dock allows a range of peripherals to be connected to mobile devices such as full-size keyboards, headsets or gaming controllers, as well as external drives to extend the storage capacity of the system. All this is packed into a compact chassis about the size of a smartphone which makes it lightweight and ultra-portable.
OWC Thunderbolt 3 mini Dock features:
- Connect two displays with uncompressed video resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 4K @ 60Hz via two HDMI 2.0 ports.
- HDCP 2.2 compatible for effortless streaming of 4K UHD content.
- Supports HDMI precision multi-channel audio such as LCPM, DTS, and Dolby Digital.
- Gigabit Ethernet port with PXE Boot and Wake-on-LAN support replaces a slow or unreliable Wi-Fi connection.
- Connect a portable drive, flash drive, or card reader via one USB 3 5 Gb/s port.
- Charge small mobile devices such as wireless earbuds, smartwatches, and most smartphones via USB 3 port.
- Connect a keyboard or mouse via one USB 2 port.
- Bus-powered smartphone-sized 5.1-ounce aluminium housing with integrated 7.2-inch Thunderbolt 3 cable.
- Works with macOS and Windows systems.
The lightweight dock is Bus-powered so it does not require external power and an aluminium casing is equipped with a 7.2-inch tethered Thunderbolt 3 cable, so there are no cables to leave behind. The Thunderbolt 3 mini Dock also uses the OWC Dock Ejector software to safely disconnect devices with a single click.
