We'll have to wait a little longer to play Mafia: Definitive Edition for ourselves, but to tide us over, 2K Games and Hangar 13 are showing off decent chunks of gameplay. As part of IGN's Summer of Gaming efforts, a 15 minute gameplay video for the game was produced, giving us a good look at all of the enhancements to expect.
Unlike Mafia 2 and Mafia 3: Definitive Edition, which were less ambitious remasters, Mafia: Definitive Edition is more akin to a full-blown remake. There are graphical and gameplay enhancements reaching all aspects of the title and you can see some of that in action in the video below:
The footage is a mix of cinematics and raw gameplay from an early, pre-release build of the game. The game has been rebuilt from the ground up, with new facial and motion capture, a new lighting engine and new scenes/dialogue to further flesh out the story.
While there will be extra scenes, however, Hangar 13 has a team of veterans from all three Mafia games chipping in to ensure this remake stays faithful to the original. Mafia: Definitive Edition is due to release on the 25th of September 2020.
