InXile has been working on a VR shooter

Since becoming part of the Xbox Game Studios family, we've all been wondering what InXile has coming next. After Wasteland 3 later this year, it looks like the team will be shipping a surprise VR game.

Today, InXile announced Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds, developed at a smaller team at InXile in collaboration with Thirdverse. This isn't an RPG or a single-player game, but rather a PvP shooter pitting 10v10 teams against each other:

“Set in an abandoned military base in Antarctica, each team will need to gear up and set out to dominate the opposing team while protecting themselves from terrifying biomechanical creatures.”

The game promises highly details weapons and a unique sci-fi setting. While PvP is the main focus, there is also a “unique PvE twist” involving an ‘”otherworldly biomechanical threat”.

KitGuru Says: This is clearly something that InXile had set up prior to last year's Microsoft acquisition, but still, it looks interesting. The game will be coming to Oculus and Steam VR before the end of this year and then, the studio will be focusing on its next big RPG for Xbox and PC.
