WB Games Montréal’s Gotham Knights officially announced

After many months of rumours, leaks and official teasers, WB Games Montréal’s next project has finally been revealed. Gotham Knights, a co-op action RPG set in the wake of Batman’s death has been announced for release in 2021 for both current and next-gen consoles. With criminals running rampant across Gotham City, the Dark Knight’s disciples must work together to take back the night.

As mentioned, the game is set after the death of Batman, which has led to an increase in crime across Gotham City. Furthermore, the Court of Owls, “a secret criminal society that is as old as Gotham itself,” have started to make their presence known. Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin and Red Hood must all work together in order to step into the shoes of the late Dark Knight and bring order back to Gotham City.

While the game will offer the ability to play with all 4 Gotham Knights, the game can be played in its entirety solo, or with one other friend thanks to 2-player co-op. Furthermore, Gotham Knights differs from previous Arkham games in that it features a heavier number of RPG elements, including enemy levels and visual damage numbers, among other changes.

Lastly, it was confirmed that this incarnation of Batman is not the same Batman as that from the previous Arkham games. While some may find that disappointing, it also presents an exciting opportunity, as WB Montréal are not tied down by the events of the Arkham games.

Gotham Knights will be releasing some time in 2021 for both current and next generation systems.
