Nvidia GeForce driver preps for ray-tracing in WoW and other upcoming games

Ahead of the release of Microsoft: Flight Simulator and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, Nvidia has released a new GeForce Game Ready driver with day-one optimisations in place. This new driver will also prepare GeForce GPU users for Total War Saga: Troy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 remastered.

As we all know, World of Warcraft is one of the longest running and most successful MMORPGs of all time and with the upcoming Shadowlands expansion, there will be a graphical update. Ray-traced shadows are being tested in the beta version of WoW at the moment and should ship alongside the new expansion. This driver brings optimisations for that, meaning RTX GPU users should be able to switch it on and enjoy improved performance via hardware-acceleration.

Aside from day-one support and driver-level optimisations for all of the games mentioned above, the latest GeForce graphics driver also expands the G-SYNC ecosystem. Eight additional monitors are now certified as ‘G-Sync Compatible', including:

  • Acer XB273U GX
  • Acer VG272 LV
  • Acer XV272 LV
  • Acer CP5271U V
  • Acer X34 GS
  • Asus PG329
  • IO Data GC252UXm
  • Lenovo Y25-25

As always, you can install the latest GeForce graphics driver through the GeForce Experience application. Alternatively, you can find it manually, HERE. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: RTX support in World of Warcraft has been known about for a while but it is nice to finally get confirmation that it will be available with the Shadowlands expansion later this year. Have any of you updated your GPU drivers already? How are you finding Nvidia's latest update so far?
