Bluepoint Games offers development update on their project

Bluepoint Games came out of the gate swinging this generation with the release of the excellent Demon’s Souls Remake at the launch of the PS5. Since then, the team have been quiet, with little known aside from the fact that they are working on an ‘original title’. While it has been years since this original statement, Bluepoint have offered a brief update on the game’s status.

Peter Dalton – the head of technology at Bluepoint Games was asked on Twitter by one fan about the current status of the company, saying “Hi Peter, could you confirm if the studio is still working on original content like it was previously announced? Thank you and all the best!”

In response, Dalton confirmed that “Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title. Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!”

Bluepoint Games have had an interesting trajectory, with each of their successive projects being more ambitious than the last – culminating in the release of the Demon’s Souls Remake back in November 2020.

Since then, the studio was acquired by Sony, revealing that their next project is ‘original content’ – whatever that means.

Many of Bluepoint's previous remasters and remakes have been highly faithful to the originals, and so it is possible that this upcoming project is either a reimagining of an older game, a sequel, or a brand new IP. We will have to patiently wait to find out.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Dalton’s statement? What do you reckon Bluepoint is working on? Would you rather it be a reimagining, sequel or a new IP? Let us know down below.
