PSN bug leads to massive Destiny 2: The Final Shape leaks

Bungie is heading towards one of its most important releases ever. Destiny 2: The Final Shape is the final expansion in the Light vs Dark saga, the main story arc that kicked off with Destiny 1 ten years ago. The expansion is just around the corner, but it seems someone didn't check over security properly, as the entire campaign has now leaked and was accessible for several hours last night.

Some have already managed to play through much of The Final Shape campaign, as users figured out a way to gain access early. The issue stems from Sony's backend, as some were also able to get early access to Elden Ring's upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion too.

If you've been keeping up with Destiny 2 over the years and care about the finale to the story, you should tread carefully when looking up anything Destiny-related until you have the chance to play The Final Shape for yourself. The early access bug was squashed after a few hours, which was enough time for some to speedrun through the campaign and even get a preview of upcoming seasonal content.

Naturally, those who had early access were also quick to record/livestream all of the cutscenes, so there really is no going back here. Sony and Bungie are going to have a very difficult time containing the leaks now that they are out there and circulating widely.

KitGuru Says: Lightfall was bad enough to put me off Destiny for good. That expansion was such a rip-off that I am unlikely to pick up The Final Shape at all, especially as Sony has been making a habit of making the newer Destiny expansions free on PS+ roughly a year after release. Still, it is a huge shame to see this big moment ruined for the developers that have spent years working on the game.
