Just a few weeks ago, it looked like AT&T was preparing for a shake-up of Warner Media, starting with the possible sale of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment – the company's gaming division. This would have been a huge deal that would have seen studios like Rocksteady change ownership. It would seem that after some additional thought, WB Games will no longer be sold, at least for the time being.
In a message sent by Warner Media to all employees, CEO Jason Kilar, details some organisational changes happening internally. Crucially, this memo confirmed Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment as a key pillar for the company's business.
Here is the key quote from the memo regarding WB Interactive: “Warner Bros. Interactive remains part of the Studios and Networks group, along with our Global Brands and Franchises team including DC led by Pam Lifford, and our Kids, Young Adults and Classics business led by Tom Ascheim, all focused on engaging fans with our brands and franchises through games and other interactive experiences.”
The message doesn't explain the sudden shift in plans, or confirm/deny rumours that a sale was being talked about. Either way though, with huge releases like Rocksteady's Suicide Squad and a new Batman game on the horizon, 2020 does seem like an odd time to let go of Warner Bros Interactive, even for its reported $4 billion value.

KitGuru Says: Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment won't be changing hands in the immediate future, which is good news for the developers spending so much time and energy on upcoming games that rely on Warner-owned licenses.
