Final Fantasy XIV’s highly anticipated ‘Reflections in Crystal’ update has arrived

After a few delays and some coronavirus-related troubles along the way, the Final Fantasy XIV team has officially shipped the highly anticipated ‘Reflections in Crystal' update. This patch not only contains the story finale to to the Shadowbringers expansion, but it also completely reworks the new player experience.

Patch 5.3, otherwise known as the ‘Reflections in Crystal’ update, is described as an “ideal opportunity for new players to dive into Final Fantasy XIV Online”. The original game has been reworked, so the ‘A Realm Reborn’ scenario content is streamlined, as is the Heavensward expansion. The goal here is to speed up progression through the early game, getting new or returning players to the newer content faster than before.

This patch is also big for current players that have already caught up. With this patch, we will see the finale for the Shadowbringers story, in addition to new trials and challenges for veteran players. The YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse alliance raid has also been expanded with another chapter.

KitGuru Says: Have many of you dived back into Final Fantasy XIV now that this patch is out? I'll be looking to check it out myself to see the NPE changes.
