Ahead of the launch of Control's second and final expansion later this month, Remedy Entertainment has announced Control: Ultimate Edition, which will be the game's debut on Steam and will also be available on next-gen consoles.
Control: Ultimate Edition includes ‘The Foundation' and ‘AWE', as well as the free updates that Remedy released along the way, tying everything together in one package.
There is some controversy though. While Control is already available on Xbox One and PS4, the base version of the game will not carry over to next-gen consoles. Instead, only Control: Ultimate Edition buyers will get a free upgrade from current-gen to the next-gen version. This news has caused a stir but hopefully with enough fan engagement, Remedy and publisher 505 Games can be convinced to include current owners of Control in this next-gen upgrade scheme.
Control: Ultimate Edition releases on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox One and PS4 on the 27th of August. A digital version will be available for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 before the end of 2020, with boxed physical copies coming for next-gen consoles in early 2021.
KitGuru Says: I already own the season pass for Control, so there isn't any reason for me to jump on the Ultimate Edition. It should be a good package for those who missed out on the game the first time around though.
