ASUS is launching the world’s first 360Hz gaming monitor next month

Back at CES 2020, ASUS announced the world's first 360Hz G-Sync gaming monitor. News on this blazing fast display went a bit quiet in the months since, but it looks like it is now ready to launch, with the PG259QN set to be available starting in September.

The Asus ROG PG259QN features a 24.5-inch IPS panel with FullHD resolution, 1ms G2G response time, 360Hz refresh rate, and 178°(H)/178°(V) viewing angles. With 400nits of brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. HDR10 support is included, offering a viewing experience “that exceeds that of ordinary displays”.

This monitor features Asus Aura Sync and uses a 3-side borderless design, with an anti-glare bezel at the bottom to “reduce onscreen reflections”. The power-on indicator light has been re-positioned to avoid distractions while gaming, while the redesigned stand saves desk space and lets you place the mouse and keyboard closer to the display. The stand also features smart-cable management to reduce the cable clutter on the desk. The monitor also comes with a “large custom heatsink” to ensure the monitor can handle long gaming sessions without cooling issues.

Thanks to the Nvidia G-Sync processor installed in this monitor, it's possible to enjoy a smoother and “tear-free” gaming experience at up to 360Hz. Additionally, this monitor also supports 3D Vision. There's also Nvidia Ultra Low Motion Blur, which uses backlight strobing to reduce motion blur and further increase the smoothness of the content displayed. The ROG PG259QN also features Flicker-free and Low Blue Light technologies to reduce the user's eye strain, GamePlus on-screen addons (stopwatch, crosshair, timer, FPS counter, and display alignment), and GameVisual colour presets to choose from.

Connectivity options include a DisplayPort 1.4, an HDMI 2.0 port, a USB upstream port, 2x USB-A downstream ports, and a 3.5mm earphone jack. The included stand allows the user to adjust the monitor's height by 120mm, but it's also possible to tilt (-5º to 20º), swivel (±25º), and pivot(±90º).

Here in the UK, the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN will cost £629.99. Over in the US, it will have an MSRP of $699. You should start seeing these pop up at retailers starting in September.
