A full, uncut demo of Ratchet & Clank announced for Opening Night Live

Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live digital Gamescom event was recently announced to be taking place on the 27th of August, and will include over 20 games; spanning roughly 2 hours long. While not much else was revealed, we now know that a good portion of that time will be dedicated to Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which is said to feature “a full, longer, uncut demo!”

Making the announcement on Twitter, Geoff Keighley told fans: “Don't miss the world premiere PlayStation 5 demo of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart with Insomniac Games #ps5,” adding that this will be “a full, longer, uncut demo” than that which was shown off at the PlayStation 5 reveal event.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently one of the few next-gen titles to truly show off the power of next generation hardware; in particular the PS5’s SSD which allows for near-instantaneous traversal between the titular rifts. It is therefore exciting to be given a deeper dive into the mechanics of Ratchet & Clank – uninterrupted by tactical camera cuts and edits.

Currently, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has not been given a release date nor a release year. With the game being present at the upcoming Opening Night Live event, it’ll be interesting to see whether Insomniac Games offers any updates in that respect. We won’t have too long to wait to find out, as the digital event will take place tomorrow, Thursday the 27th of August at 7pm BST.
