More sources point to upgraded Nintendo Switch and huge games in 2021

Yesterday a report from Economic Daily News citing supply chain sources indicated that new Nintendo Switch hardware would be coming out in early 2021. Now, another reputable source is backing that up, with Bloomberg tech reporter, Takashi Mochizuki expanding on the report.

According to Mochizuki, Nintendo plans to debut “an upgraded model” of the Switch next year alongside a strong lineup of games. Apparently Nintendo is ‘ceding' its 2020 holiday spotlight in favour of a much bigger push in 2021 to compete with new consoles from Sony and Microsoft throughout the full year.

While an upgraded Switch is said to be in the works, specs have apparently not been finalised. Apparently, Nintendo is looking to support 4K Ultra HD though, which would require a very significant upgrade.

The release of this upgraded Nintendo Switch would be coupled with new first-party games from Nintendo and some big third-party titles too. Perhaps 2021 will be the year for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4. No specific game releases have been mentioned by sources at this time though.

KitGuru Says: Given the number of enhanced Switch rumours that have taken place over the years, I'll be holding off on believing it until I see it. Still, if all of this proves to be true, it sounds like 2021 is going to be a very exciting year for Nintendo fans.
