Sabrent releases the Rocket 4 Plus PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

Recently Samsung announced what many thought to be the fastest PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD on the market. Unfortunately for Samsung, the 980 Pro seems to have already been beaten by the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus. The Rocket 4 Plus is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD that uses the most recent version of Phison's controller, allowing it to exceed the speed of older PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs and even beating the Samsung 980 Pro in sequential writing.

Thanks to the Phison PS5018-E18 SSD controller and TLC NAND flash memory, the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus reaches a maximum sequential read speed of 7000Mbps and a maximum sequential write speed of 6850Mbps. This is two times more than what your average PCIe 3.0 SSD can do in both sequential reading and sequential writing.

Available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB, the Rocket 4 Plus will also offer more storage capacities than the Samsung 980 Pro. This allows users to store more data without needing a second drive in their systems.

The extra performance that this SSD offers you come with more heat generated. To avoid potential throttling by the Rocket 4 Plus, Sabrent has developed a custom “state-of-the-art” heatsink using both copper and aluminium. The copper heat coils receive and transport the heat generated to the aluminium heatsink and top surface. Additionally, there are 2x thermal tapes to further help with heat transport and an aluminium tray to mount the heatsink on top of the SSD (screws and screwdriver to mount included). Aimed at desktop computers, the heatsink is easy to install and compatible with single and double sided M.2 2280 SSDs.

Pricing and availability details were not shared by Sabrent yet. You can learn more about the Rocket 4 Plus HERE.
