Alleged GeForce RTX 3090/3080 PCB images leaked

Images of a supposed custom Colorful Nvidia RTX 3090/3080 have been leaked in a Chinese forum. In these images, we can see 11 memory modules that we suspect to be GDDR6X, based on reports that Micron has supplied 19-21 Gbps GDDR6 memory for the RTX 3090.

The PCB pictures shared by YuuKi_Ans at the Bilibili forum are partly blurred, but another picture with less blurred parts was shared later. The source initially claimed that this was a PCB from an RTX 3090, but recanted later stating, instead stating that it was from an RTX 3080. These images are from the back of the PCB, and the Intel CPU seen on the images was intentionally put on top of an external chip, which we presume to be a traversal coprocessor.

The first thing to pop out is the 11 memory modules around the GPU, meaning that it could be a graphics card with 11GB or 22GB of VRAM. Unfortunately, we are not sure if these chips are Micron GDDR6X because the serial numbers are also blurred. Other interesting things to note is the different Nvlink interface on the top right corner and the three 8-pin power connectors on the top left side, suggesting a TDP of up to 450W.

In other news, Micron confirmed in its Tech Brief that the RTX 3090 will be equipped with GDDR6X VRAM, but listed it with “only” 12GB of VRAM. Funnily enough, Micron also listed the Nvidia RTX Titan with 12GB of VRAM, but it actually comes with 24GB of VRAM. This contradicts the theory that the leaked pictures are from an RTX 3090.

Other specifications shared by Micron include a bandwidth of up to over 1 TB/s driven by a 384-bit bus and a clock speed ranging from 19GB/s to 21GB/s. You can download Micron Tech Brief HERE. Nvidia is expected to introduce the Nvidia RTX 30xx series during a special event scheduled for September 1st.

KitGuru says: Do you believe that the RTX 3090 will have 24GB of GDDR6X memory? Is the RTX 3090 going to be the flagship or is there still a Titan graphics card in the works?

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
