Untitled Goose Game took the internet by storm when it released back in 2019. Taking control of a goose, players would complete various objectives – usually involving stealing items from humans without them noticing. In a surprise announcement yesterday, the developers – House House – announced that the game will be receiving a free two-player update alongside a Steam release this September.
Making the announcement, House House revealed that “A new two-player mode for Untitled Goose Game will be available for free on September 23rd”. Furthermore, “Untitled Goose Game will be releasing on Steam and itch.io” on the same day – with the game currently being wishlistable.
Providing further details on the two-player mode, House House said: “Re: two horrible geese —
- Local multiplayer, coming to all platforms
- Play through the whole game with a friend
- One of you plays as one goose, the other one plays as the other goose
- You can carry each other around in a box
Being able to play the entire game with a friend is certainly welcome – especially as Untitled Goose Game is ripe for causing havoc and other shenanigans. Furthermore, it’s nice to see the game finally come to Steam. While it has been available on PC for almost a year, it was exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
It’ll be interesting to see whether the two-player update and Steam release will revitalise the online discourse surrounding this game, when it arrives on the 23rd of September.
