AMD set to fight Nvidia RTX 30 series with aggressively priced 16GB graphics cards

While Nvidia has been presenting us with its new RTX 30 series graphics cards and what they are capable of achieving, AMD has kept quiet regarding its next-gen GPUs. There is plenty of buzz surrounding the RTX 30 series but Team Red is rumoured to be launching an aggressively priced rival.

The RTX 30 series consists of three GPUs for now: the RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090 – priced at $499, $699, and $1499, respectively. On the other hand, we have AMD, which has previously confirmed plans for RDNA 2 GPUs and a ‘Big Navi' graphics card.

As per coreteks, AMD was planning to release a 16GB graphics card priced at $599, placing it between the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3080. Apparently, after the Ampere announcement, AMD decided to cut the price by $50, decreasing it to $549. Given the extra $50 over the RTX 3070, AMD might market it by having double the memory of the RTX 3070, and even an extra 6GB than the RTX 3080, while costing $150 less. Additionally, the report also claims that these GPUs will begin popping up this month.

Coreteks initially stated that there would also be an 8GB model of the Big Navi graphics card available for $499, but he has later corrected it by saying that it was a mistake (lost in translation).

Taking history as an example, AMD has already done something similar when it released the Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700XT. AMD initially announced a price for its Radeon RX 5000 series but was later cut after Nvidia announced the pricing of its RTX 20 series graphics cards.
