In less than one week, Gamescom will officially begin, giving fans across the world a new look at many hotly anticipated games – as well as new reveals. Kicking off the convention will be Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, which has been revealed to be roughly 2 hours long, and will feature over 20 games.
Making the announcement on Twitter, Geoff Keighley stated that “tomorrow we'll start to reveal more about some of the games set for Opening Night Live next Thursday! [27/8] What would you like to see in the show?”
Alongside this, Keighley confirmed that the 2-hour long event will feature over 20 different titles. Furthermore, some of the companies and publishers set to make an appearance include: Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, EA, SEGA, Ubisoft, Xbox, “and more.”

Back in April, due to COVID-19 and the global pandemic, Gamescom announced that it would not be hosting a physical conference, instead opting for a digital event. Attended by over 373,000 fans in 2019, Gamescom 2020 will certainly differ significantly in that respect. Still, unlike E3 and a number of other gaming events, Gamescom has neither been cancelled nor delayed, and “will start with gamescom: Opening Night Live on August 27th followed by three packed days of program with all partners and new gamescom shows.”
With everything that has happened this year, it’ll be interesting to see what gets announced at Opening Night Live on Thursday the 27th of August.
