Each week, the Epic Games Store offers its fans a number of free games simply for using the store front. This week, account holders can get their hands on Into the Breach, the critically acclaimed turn-based strategy game from the creators of FTL.
For the uninitiated, Into the Breach is a rogue-lite, turn-based strategy game, which tasks players with “defend[ing] the cities”, “perfect[ing] your strategy” and “build[ing] the ultimate mech”. With “civilian buildings power[ing] your mechs” you must “defend them from the Vek and watch your fire!”
Into the Breach launched back in 2018 and saw immediate success, becoming one of the highest rated games of the year – and THE highest rated game on PC in 2018 (according to Metacritic). Furthermore, the game won ‘Best Strategy Game’, and was nominated for ‘Best Indie Game‘ at the 2018 Game Awards, alongside a litany of other accolades at various award shows.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Epic Games has given away Into the Breach. Back in December 2019, the storefront held a ‘12 Days of Free Games’ promotional event, which saw users being gifted a new game every day.
While fans only had 24 hours to nab the game for free back then, players are given a much more generous week-long time period for which they can ‘purchase’ Into the Breach this time round – beginning from now until the 10th of September.
