We're still a couple of weeks away from a full launch and reviews, but for now, we have an early look at how the RTX 3080 stacks up against the RTX 2080Ti in DOOM Eternal – all running at 4K with maximum graphics settings.
Do keep in mind that this is an official Nvidia video, so these aren't independently verified results, but it is still an interesting look at what the RTX 3080 is capable of:
DOOM Eternal is a fast paced game with an equally fast paced frame rate. We don't get average, minimum or maximum frame rate results, but we can see how much of an advantage the RTX 3080 has in moment to moment gameplay. In many scenes, you will see Nvidia's new Ampere GPU overtake Turing by a substantial amount.
This follows on from questions over the RTX 3080's performance improvement over Turing in traditional rasterisation, not just ray-traced games, which was more of a key focus for Nvidia during its RTX 30 series announcement.
KitGuru Says: I am eager to see more benchmarks for the RTX 3080 in the weeks to come, but this DOOM Eternal footage is a nice starting point. Are many of you looking forward to the RTX 30 series launch? Will you be upgrading?
