EKWB has announced that water blocks for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 will be available at launch. The company stated that the water blocks will work on both GPUs, confirming indirectly that these two share the same reference board design.
During Nvidia's announcement of the RTX 30 series, we saw that that the RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics card is gigantic compared to the RTX 3080 one, therefore using a much bigger board. Nonetheless, this only applies to the Founders Editions boards because the reference design boards, used by AiB partners, are apparently the same for both GPUs.
The EK water blocks were designed for reference boards only, meaning that Founders Edition graphics cards won't work with these water blocks. The Founders Edition boards are unique due to Nvidia's new flow-through cooler design, while the reference boards use a more common design. EK hasn't announced water blocks for FE graphics cards or for the GeForce RTX 3070, yet.
The first EK water blocks for the RTX 30 series belong to its Quantum Vector series. Following EK water blocks typical design, covering the VRM, VRAM, and GPU. All of these water blocks use Open Split-Flow cooling engine with low hydraulic flow restriction, allowing to mount them with weaker or low-speed pumps. The D-RGB version can be synchronised with most popular RGB motherboard software.
EK upcoming water blocks for the RTX 3080 and 3090 include the EK-Quantum Vector D-RGB – Nickel + Plexi, the EK-Quantum Vector – Copper + Plexi, the EK-Quantum Vector D-RGB – Nickel + Acetal, and the EK-Quantum Vector – Copper + Acetal.
These water blocks will be available on September 17th, priced at about $139.99 for the EK-Quantum Vector copper water blocks, $154.99 for the EK-Quantum Vector – Nickel + Acetal, and $159.99 for the EK-Quantum Vector – Nickel + Plexi water blocks. You can learn more about them HERE.
