Google will announce the Pixel 5 and other hardware this month

Google has a number of devices still due to launch before the end of this year and while COVID-19 may have put a stop to any physical events taking place, there is still plenty of opportunity for a virtual launch event. This week, Google began sending out invites for just that.

Google has confirmed ‘Launch Night In', a digital event taking place on the 30th of September, a little earlier than the usual October launch event.

Officially, we know that Google will be focusing on new Chromecast, smart speaker and Pixel phone updates. Unofficially, we know that Google is bringing the Pixel 5 – the first 5G Pixel phone, as well as a Nest-branded smart speaker.

Beyond that, Google appears to have a new Android TV device on the way, as well as a new Chromecast codenamed ‘Sabrina'. These two devices were uncovered by FCC listings filed last month.

All will be made official on the 30th of September at 11AM PT, which translates to 7PM for those of us in the UK.
