Last night during Ubisoft Forward, the publisher officially announced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, bringing the classic 2003 action game into the modern era. We had already seen some still images of the game thanks to a leak on uPlay yesterday afternoon, but now, we have a proper trailer to examine.
For this remake, all animations have been re-done with motion capture, which should make platforming and combat even smoother. Yuri Lowenthal is returning to voice the Prince, while some other roles have been recast, such as Farah, who is now played by Supinder Wraich.
You can see some of the graphical touch-ups in the trailer, although there are some slight changes in art direction, particularly where character models are concerned, which may put some fans of the original off.
The Prince of Persia remake is being handled by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, both of which have previously acted as support studios on projects like Far Cry 5. The remake is being developed in the Anvil Engine, the same engine that Ubisoft uses for Assassin's Creed. The game is slated to release in January 2021.
