Nvidia warns of ‘limited supply’ for RTX 3090 at launch

The RTX 3090 is set to launch in just a matter of hours and while you might expect it to be a bit easier to pick up at launch due to its high price tag, Nvidia has pre-warned that this likely won't be the case.

In a post yesterday refreshing us all on the RTX 3090's specs and performance, Nvidia added a quick note to “apologise upfront” for low launch-day supply: “Since we built GeForce RTX 3090 for a unique group of users, like the TITAN RTX before it, we want to apologise upfront that this will be in limited supply on launch day. We know this is frustrating, and we’re working with our partners to increase the supply in the weeks to come.”

The RTX 3090 is said to be about 10-15 percent faster on average than the RTX 3080 and up to 50 percent faster than the last-generation TITAN RTX. Packing 10,496 CUDA cores and 24GB of GDDR6X memory, this is the only single-GPU solution capable of gaming at 8K with playable frame rates.

The RTX 3090 launches later today, with pricing starting at $1499. Reviews will be going live at the same time as retail availability.

KitGuru Says: The RTX 3090 is going to be no easier to get hold of than the RTX 3080 at launch. However, as Nvidia has told us, the company is working hard to ship more units and meet demand. Are many of you planning to try and get an RTX 3090 later today?
