A video posted on the Bilibili TecLab channel shows an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 going through multiple performance tests. The leakers behind the video stated that they own an RTX 3080 and the respective driver (456.16) that has been given to press members for review purposes.
The video was taken offline on Bilibili, but it was later uploaded to YouTube. Given that we don't actually see the product being tested, it's hard to confirm that this is indeed an RTX 3080. However, the performance improvement is somewhat similar to what we came to expect from the upcoming graphics card. As per Teclab, the RTX 3080 offers 30% more performance than the RTX 2080Ti and 50% more than the RTX 2080 Super. Additionally, the total power consumption of the system was about 500W.
As seen in the video above, the RTX 3080 seems really promising. The 3DMark and game scores compiled by u/Nestledrink shows that the previous generation RTX 20 series cards are quite behind the capabilities of the RTX 3080, as seen in the following table.
BENCHMARK | RTX 3080 SCORE | VS 2080TI | VS 2080 SUPER |
Firestrike | 11049 | +25% | +43% |
Firestrike Extreme | 20101 | +24% | +45% |
Firestrike Ultra | 31919 | +36% | +64% |
Timespy | 8548 | +28% | +49% |
Timespy Extreme | 17428 | +38% | +59% |
Port Royal | 11455 | +45% | +64% |
Game results follow a similar pattern to what the synthetic benchmark scores have shown (only vs 2080 Super).
GAMES | RTX 3080 FPS | VS 2080 SUPER |
Far Cry 5 4K Ultra | 99 FPS | +62% |
Borderlands 3 4K Crazy | 61.05 FPS | +56% |
Horizon Zero Dawn 4K Ultra | 76 FPS | N/A |
Assassin's Creed Odyssey 4K | 67 FPS | +48% |
Forza Horizon 4K | 147FPS | +48% |
The gains from using DLSS on the RTX 3080 also seem pretty good, with games like Control increasing its FPS by 80%.
GAMES | DLSS ON | DLSS OFF |
Shadow of the Tomb Raider | 101 FPS | 83 FPS |
Control | 90 FPS | 50 FPS |
Death Stranding | 160-170 FPS | 100-110 FPS |
During the Nvidia RTX 30 series announcement, Jensen Huang showed a graph that claimed the RTX 3080 would offer up to double the performance of the RTX 2080. Based on these results, that claim appears to be well within reach, particularly for DLSS supported games.
