Gigabyte introduces the GeForce RTX 3070 GAMING and EAGLE series

The launch of the RTX 3070 is still almost a month away, but Gigabyte is already showing us what they have in store for us. The first RTX 3070 graphics cards to be presented by Gigabyte powered by the GA104 GPU are the RTX 3070 Gaming OC and RTX 3070 Eagle OC.

Like all RTX 3070 graphics cards, both Gigabyte models will feature 8GB of GDDR6 memory (non-X), 256-bit memory bus, and 5888 CUDA cores. The memory of both cards will be clocked at the stock 14Gbps, but the core clock is not known yet. Given that both cards have “OC” in their names, we expect that these will be factory-overclocked, meaning that core clocks speeds will be above the stock 1500MHz base and 1730MHz boost.

Starting with the Eagle series, it will feature 3x 80mm alternate spinning fans with 3D Active technology (0db fans), unlike the 2x 90mm + 1x 80mm fan configuration of the RTX 3080 Eagle series models. The shrouds of both the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Eagle models are also different, with the RTX 3080 one featuring increased width to house the 2x 90mm fans. This card also features screen cooling, allowing the air to pass through the heatsink thanks to a hole in the backplate.

Measuring 282x115x41mm (LxWxH), the RTX 3070 Eagle OC is 4cm shorter than the RTX 3080 counterpart. The cooler is also less thick, featuring a 2-slot design instead of a 2.5-slot design. Just like the RTX 3080 Eagle models, it features RGB lighting that you can synchronise using Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0, with a wide set of effects and 16.7M colours to choose from. Available video outputs include 2x DisplayPorts 1.4a and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, and the card is powered by a 6-pin and an 8-pin power connector.

The RTX 3070 Gaming series also features 3x 80mm fans with the same technologies as the Eagle model. The shroud is also different from its RTX 3080 equivalent for the same reason.  Just like most RTX 30 series graphics from AiB partners, this one also has screen cooling to improve thermals. This graphics card also comes with Dual BIOS featuring a silent mode for a “quieter experience”

The 2.25-slot cooler makes it thicker than the Eagle model, measuring 286x115x51mm. This graphics card also features RGB LEDs that can be customisable through Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0. The RTX 3070 Gaming OC features the same video outputs as the Eagle OC one, which are 2x DisplayPorts 1.4a and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, and powered by a 6-pin and an 8-pin power connector.

The GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards are scheduled to release on October 15th. Gigabyte hasn't shared the price of these cards yet, but Nvidia's MSRP for the RTX 3070 is £469. You can learn more about the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Eagle OC HERE, and the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC HERE.
