Xbox Games Showcase will be streamed at 4k60fps

While video game showcases are always a fun time, far too often the visually stunning titles on display are done a great disservice by being live streamed at 1080p – sometimes even running at just 30fps. Fortunately, the upcoming Xbox / Call of Duty showcase will be streamed at the highest quality possible (at least on YouTube).

Ahead of the impending Xbox games showcase, Microsoft has offered more concrete details on how exactly fans can watch the upcoming live stream. Taking place this Sunday the 9th of June at 6PM UK Time, the Xbox and Call of Duty Showcase will be available to watch live on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook.

Through rarely used by publishers, YouTube does offer a 4k60fps streaming option which we be utilised for the upcoming showcase, with Microsoft saying: “Please note the /Xbox, /Bethesda and /ActivisionGames streams on YouTube will be in 4K at 60fps, while all other channels will be 1080p / 60fps.”

Regardless of whether or not the games themselves run at a full 4k60fps on Xbox is besides the point. Streaming at 4x the standard resolution will result in less compression, fewer artefacts and improved details, showing off the games as clearly as possible. Hopefully more showcases choose to take advantage of YouTube’s streaming abilities.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for the showcase? Will you be watching on Twitch or YouTube? Should Twitch offer a 4k mode? Let us know down below.
