The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 remake recently released to high praise. The first game in the series since the widely panned ‘Pro Skater 5’, 1+2 proved that the franchise can still offer an enticing and fun skateboarding experience. It appears as though this critical success has turned into commercial success, as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 has become the fastest selling game in the franchise to reach a million copies sold.
Making the announcement on Twitter, Activision Blizzard revealed that “It’s official – Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is the fastest game to reach 1 million units sold-through in franchise history! Congrats @TonyHawk.”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 launched on the 4th of September, meaning that the skateboarding game achieved this milestone sales figure in less than 2 weeks. For context, the highest rated Tony Hawk title (Pro Skater 2) sold over 5.3 million units. While 1+2 still has a ways to go until it achieves such numbers, the rapid rate at which it has achieved its current sales appears to suggest that it is well on its way to catch up to the best game in the franchise.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see whether 1+2 has the same legs as Pro Skater 2. Either way, it is highly likely that the success of this most recent remake has encouraged Activision Blizzard to allow for the greenlighting of future Tony Hawk games.
