World of Warcraft: Shadowlands delayed

Back in August, Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft: Shadowlands would release on the 27th of October – a new trailer was also released alongside the announcement. Since then though, Blizzard has run into some difficulties and as a result, the expansion has been delayed.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands executive producer, John Hight, announced the delay last night and unfortunately, there is no new release date at this time:

While there is no new release date, Blizzard still aims to ship Shadowlands before the end of this year. The delay is “the right decision for the game and for our players” according to Hight. He also elaborated a bit more on the circumstances, saying:

“As everything started coming together and we’ve been listening to and building upon your feedback, it’s become clear we need a little more time for additional polish, and to balance and iterate on some interlocking pieces, particularly those related to the endgame”.

While Shadowlands has been delayed, the pre-patch is still releasing on the 13th of October with revamped character levelling, an overhauled new player experience and new character customisation options.

KitGuru Says: This is an unexpected delay, but if extra time is needed, then there really aren't any other options than to simply move the release date. Hopefully a new release date for Shadowlands is announced soon.
