Earlier this year, Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy 16 for the PS5. The trailer was quite meaty and recent industry talk has suggested that it is closer to release than many expect. Now, the Official PlayStation Magazine may have given the launch window away.
The next issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine has been announced, with a teaser for it reading:
“It's official: Final Fantasy 16 is coming in 2021 and it's only on PS5. This next-gen debut for Final Fantasy will make use of all of the tech inside Sony's new console. But who are the new heroes, what is that massive fire demon, and what's the combat style this time around? Pick up a copy of Official PlayStation Magazine issue 181 and find the answers to these questions, and more.”
We already knew that Final Fantasy XVI was going to be a PS5 exclusive, or at the very least, a timed exclusive with a PC release coming later. However, Square Enix had not officially announced a 2021 release window.
If all holds true, then Square Enix is going to have a huge year ahead of it and we should start hearing more about this game in the first half of next year.
KitGuru Says: Final Fantasy XVI is going to be one of the most anticipated games of the year. Of course, nothing has been announced by Square Enix just yet, but this is another reason to be optimistic for a release within the next year or so.
