Noctua has launched two new CPU coolers belonging to its Chromax black line. Noctua's new Chromax black CPU coolers stay “true to the successful formula of the original models”, featuring all-black fans and heatsinks without sacrificing their cooling capabilities.
The Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black, just like the Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black, is very similar to its original model, but it's completely black. Both coolers feature black coated heatsinks, black fans with black anti-vibration-pads, black fan clips and black mounting parts, giving them a “sleek stealth look”.
On the more technical side, the NH-D15S is an “asymmetrical single fan version” of the widely known NH-D15. Its asymmetrical design increases the clearance of the top PCIe slot, allowing users to easily mount any compatible component on it. Given that it only uses a fan between both towers, the RAM clearance is also very good, allowing users to use any RAM modules of up to 65mm height. Additionally, if the user plans to further increase the NH-D15S cooling capabilities, it can add a second fan on the front of the fin tower.
The NH-U9S is a compact, powerful CPU cooler that uses a single 92mm fan. Also featuring an asymmetrical design, the NH-U9S uses its 5x heat pipes to transfer the heat generated by the CPU to its small, but dense heatsink. With a 95x95mm footprint, the NH-U9S has 100% RAM and PCIe slots clearance on all mATX and mini-ITX motherboards. Additionally, the 125mm height also allows it to be compatible with an extensive set of cases.
Roland Mossig, the CEO of Noctua, says that the chromax.black line of coolers has been quite successful. With the introduction of the NH-D15S and NH-U9S, the company now has “a top-tier dual tower model with excellent compatibility as well as a compact 9cm-class cooler that is ideal for space-restricted builds” in Noctua's alternative colour scheme.
Noctua is also introducing sets of its brown anti-vibration pads for 200, 140, 120, 92 and 80mm fans, ideal if you want to take a bit of Noctua's signature brown to the chromax.black coolers. Each set comes with 16 pads, which is enough to use on 2 fans.
The Noctua NH-D15S and NH-U9S chromax.black are available now for €89.90/$89.90 and €64.90/$64.90, respectively. The vibration pads sets are also available now for €6.90/$6.90, each.
