Kerbal Space Program 2 pushed back to 2022

Kerbal Space Program 2 was announced at Gamescom last year with an initial ‘early 2020’ release date. Since then, the game has been pushed back a couple of times, with the latest announced release window being ‘Fall 2021'. Now, it looks like the game won't be out until at least 2022. 

In another update from the development team posted today, Creative Director, Nate Simpson, announced that Kerbal Space Program 2 is now being pushed back to 2022, two years after its initial planned release date.

“Gonna rip the band-aid off fast here: Kerbal Space Program 2 will release in 2022 instead of fall 2021. I know this is frustrating, especially considering that this isn’t the first time we’ve adjusted our schedule”, Simpson said.

“We knew we were taking on an immense technical and creative challenge when we started this project.
We’ve heard time and again from this community that quality is paramount, and we feel the same way.
It’s not enough to deliver a bunch of new features – those features have to be woven together into a
stable, polished whole. We’re creating a reliable foundation on which players and modders alike can
build for another decade or more. That involves solving problems that have never been solved before,
and that takes time.”

These delays aren't entirely unexpected either, as some questionable publisher tactics came into play, which saw the original studio behind the project shut down.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully this is the last major delay for Kerbal Space Program 2. At this point, the game definitely seems to have been announced far too early. Hopefully the rest of the road to release is smooth.
