Blizzard cracks down on multi-boxing ahead of WoW: Shadowlands launch

Ahead of WoW's next big expansion launch, Blizzard is making an effort to crack down on certain in-game practices. The most notable thing here is a renewed stance against multi-boxing and automated gameplay methods.

This week, Blizzard issued a policy update for input broadcasting software. This allows a single keystroke or action to be automatically mirrored to multiple game clients, allowing for quicker farming and levelling. According to Blizzard, it has observed “an increasingly negative impact to the game as this software is used”.

Using software that mirrors keystrokes across multiple World of Warcraft clients is now going to be considered an “actionable offense”. To start off with, anyone detected using these methods will be issued with warnings. Following that, suspension and permanent bans are the next punishments on the list.

As you would expect, Blizzard “strongly advice you to cease using this type of software” to maintain good standing on your WoW account.
