PlayStation CEO comments on PS5 stock: “absolutely everything is sold”

While many PlayStation fans had hoped to get their hands on the next-gen PlayStation 5 during the launch period, a large majority were left disappointed as supply was unable to meet demand. It would appear as though this stock shortage is unlikely to be resolved any time soon, as PlayStation’s CEO recently commented on the issue, saying “Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold.”

In a recent interview with PlayStation’s CEO Jim Ryan, Russian new outlet TASS asked the executive about the state of sales for the PlayStation 5, to which Ryan responded “Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold,” adding that “I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.”

It comes as no surprise that the console manufacturer is seeing supply issues, especially as the world is currently going through a global pandemic, which has seen output across all industries limited. Ryan offered his thoughts on launching a console during the current climate, saying “I wouldn’t plan on doing another big console launch in the midst of a global pandemic, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody else.”

While it is undoubtedly disappointing to those who were unable to secure a PS5 during launch, especially knowing that stock will likely continue to be very limited for the foreseeable future, it is entirely understandable why output is the way that it is. Hopefully those who want a PS5 will be able to get one soon enough.
