Half-Life Alyx gets a developer commentary update

With everything that has happened in the world since March 2020, it can be easy to forget that Half-Life Alyx actually released this year. Valve's grand return to the Half-Life saga is still one of the best games to release this year and now, we have a full developer commentary update to listen to.

Valve has discussed Half-Life: Alyx and its development quite a bit in interviews and of course, as part of Geoff Keighley's interactive features ‘The Final Hours'. Now, the game itself has its own developer commentary mode, adding 147 points of interest throughout the game.

These points of interest are indicated by floating headsets and once approached, players can hear the developers talking about some of the behind-the-scenes work that went into creating what you are looking at. That includes commentary from the people behind design, art, animation, rendering and even audio production.

The commentary track also has localised subtitles for French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

KitGuru Says: Given how Valve operates and the lengthy gap between games in the Half-Life series, it is always going to be interesting to hear the folks that worked on Alyx discussing how the game came to be. Have many of you played Half-Life Alyx this year?
